Is a yacht charter cheaper with more guests?
Yes, effectively, since the nightly rate is fixed for the whole boat regardless of guest numbers up to its capacity. A group filling all cabins pays far less per person than a couple on the same yacht.
What is included in the price?

How far ahead should I book?
Six to twelve months for July, August or the Christmas period, three to six months for shoulder season, and sometimes just weeks for a flexible date. Availability changes weekly, so it is always worth checking even close to your travel dates.

Do I need a visa to charter a yacht?
Most nationalities need a visa on arrival, an e-visa, or qualify for an exemption, depending on citizenship. Check current rules with an official source, since they change and vary by passport.
Do I need a marine park permit?
Yes, for both Komodo and Raja Ampat, charged per guest and listed on your quote. Some yachts include it in the nightly rate, others charge it separately.
Is it safe to charter a yacht in Indonesia?
Reputable operators run to established safety standards, with trained crew, life jackets and safety briefings as standard practice. Ask about crew qualifications and safety equipment if you want specifics before booking.
What documents do I need on board?

Are Komodo dragons dangerous to visit?
They can be, which is why visits are always with an armed ranger and at a set distance. Rangers brief every group before the walk and set the route accordingly.
Life on board questions
What are the cabins like?
Configurations range from a single cabin on a small boat to ten or more on the largest expedition yachts, most ensuite with air conditioning. Cabin standard varies more than almost anything else between boats.
What food is served on board?
Most yachts run a full-board menu cooked to order by an onboard chef, often mixing Indonesian and Western dishes. Dietary requirements are best flagged when you book so the galley can plan ahead.
Is there wifi on board?
Some yachts have Starlink or satellite wifi, others do not, and it is one of the more variable features between boats. Check with us before assuming you will be connected throughout your trip.
Do I tip the crew?
Gratuities are customary and usually not included in the nightly rate. Most guests tip in cash at the end of the charter, split among the crew by the captain.
What water toys are included?

When should I go to Komodo?
Roughly May to October, the dry season, when the fleet is based in the park and conditions are calmest.
When should I go to Raja Ampat?
Roughly October to April, when the fleet repositions from Komodo and the seas in the archipelago are at their most settled.
Can I combine Komodo and Raja Ampat in one trip?
Only on the short repositioning crossing that some expedition yachts run around April and October, a longer voyage through the Spice Islands rather than a quick hop between the two.
What is a phinisi?
A traditional Indonesian wooden sailing ship, built by hand in South Sulawesi, and the most common vessel type in our fleet. Motor yachts and steel expedition vessels make up the rest of the board.
Can non-divers still enjoy a Raja Ampat charter?
Yes. Much of the reef life sits close enough to the surface for snorkelling, and island visits, birdwatching and village stops fill the rest of an itinerary without a single dive.
